This just answered my question why I pray every night even though I would consider myself agnostic. It helps my anxiety majorly and helps me get to sleep.

Even for people who were brought up in religion (like I was) it is hard to believe in a supernatural deity, but for people like my adult children who were brought up without any religion at all, it is nearly impossible to find church dogma compelling. I do think that young people may be drawn to the community of the church and might be willing to join without fully embracing the dogma

You perfectly described what I liked about Catholicism…the rituals and routine were very soothing for my anxiety. And I do like Pope Leo for the most part. I won’t be going back though lol. I don’t think I ever really believed in any of it.

Thank you for this take! Everyone has been talking about it being a move toward hierarchy and patriarchy. Catholicism certainly contains those things, but it’s not what I feel is pulling people in right now and I appreciate this alternative perspective.

I mean… If anyone wants to go inside a mosque for any reason, you should respect their rules and their space. I’ve been to several mosques around the world because I wanted to see the architecture. I was there on a tour, and of course, I observed their rules before entering.
