If you have stubborn plaque (that builds up even if you are brushing everyday), use a tartar softening toothpaste once a month or so. (can go up to every day, but I find that unnecessary and irritating) It softens dense build up so it can be more easily brushed away and doesn't fuck up your enamel like this will. (It does taste bad, but I just use mouthwash or regular toothpaste after.) This is the one I use:
