@scientificamerican: Researchers in Uganda have captured rare footage of animals feeding on Egyptian fruit bats that carry the Marburg virus inside a national park known to be a hotspot for the disease. The cameras recorded 10 different species, from blue monkeys to Nile monitors, hunting or scavenging bat carcasses in an area where these virus-carrying bats roost. The footage also shows hundreds of humans visiting the same site, highlighting the real risk of zoonotic spillover. The virus belongs to the same family as Ebola virus, and understanding how it moves between species is key to preventing future outbreaks. Read more at the 🔗 in bio.
