Wait WHERE??? I live in Wilmington, NC, we have a couple of live archaeology digs downtown BTW, if you ever wanna visit, they’re doing excavations in the historic downtown and you can come and participate in the dig on weekends

The Maritime Museum in Beaufort is free admission and they used to have a gorgeous exhibit from TQAR. I haven’t been in a couple of years but it’s a neat little place!

I’m an archaeologist and have a bunch of friends who work there, I live a few mins away and have volunteered a few times. It’s neat :)

This has been going on for years most of it’s already out of the water. There is a private museum that you can book a viewing to see a large piece of his ship sits inside of a tank of water.

I have a friend who worked on those dives. The Beaufort Maratime Museum does a lot of the conservation of the items brought to the surface. I saw them preserving pieces when I went to tour the museum.

That’s so cool! We stay in a house in OBX called Queen Anne’s Revenge and it’s all ship themed and I’m pretty sure there’s a plaque or something there that talks about Black Beard!
