Biography: • Full Name: Bassem Ismail Mohammed Al-Karbalai • Date of Birth: 1966 • Place of Birth: Karbala • Nationality: Iraqi Early Life: He was born and raised in the religious city of Karbala, which greatly influenced his connection to Hussaini gatherings from a young age. He began reciting elegies early and became known for his emotional and powerful voice. Career: • معروف بإحياء المجالس خلال Muharram and Safari. ‏ • Collaborated with many poets and composers of Hussaini poetry. ‏ • Known for his deeply emotional and sorrowful style. ‏ • Performed in many countries including Iran, Bahrain, and Kuwait. Works: He has performed hundreds of Hussaini poems (latmiyat) that gained wide popularity, especially those about Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) and his family. Status: He is considered one of the leading contemporary Shia reciters and has a large fan base across the Muslim world. He is often referred to as a “Servant of Imam Hussain.”
