@lnparkx: day in the life of a marketing director living in los angeles, ca ⭐️ there’s been a lot of new people here so hi, i’m ellen. one thing about me is i’ll always drop my real thoughts into the captions of my vlogs. it’s kind of like a running note to myself, a way to process things in real time. people always tell me to get a diary but this is genuinely where i think things through, and something i like coming back to later to see how i’ve grown. this was one of those days that felt a little heavier than usual. not in a bad way, just one of those days where everything forces you to slow down and reflect a bit more. i used to think days like that meant i was doing something wrong, but now i see them as a sign that i’m being stretched. and usually, that’s where the growth actually happens. because i’m on planes commuting to work pretty often, i get these quiet pockets of time where it’s just me, music, and no wifi. i always end up looking around and wondering what everyone else does, what they’re working toward, what kind of life they’re building. it’s a small reminder that everyone is figuring something out, even if it doesn’t look like it on the surface. lately i’ve been thinking a lot about how many different types of people you meet in your career. there are people who think big picture, people who execute and just get things done, and people who are still figuring out how they work best. and the truth is, you’ll probably be all three at different points in your life. i think one of the biggest shifts for me has been realizing that your environment shapes you more than you think. every team, every manager, every project teaches you something, even if it’s just showing you what you don’t want. and that clarity is actually really valuable, especially early on. now that i’m managing people, i try to be really intentional about how i show up. giving people space to do their best work, but also being someone they can rely on. i don’t think anyone gets it perfect, but being aware of it already changes how you lead. something i’m still working on is not trying to do everything on my own. i used to think pushing through everything without help was the best way to prove myself. but over time i’ve learned that asking questions, getting input, and building with other people actually gets you further. i also used to be really competitive in a way that was tied to other people. i wanted to be ahead, to achieve more, to prove something. and while that pushed me, it also made everything feel a lot heavier than it needed to be. now i try to keep that energy more internal. it’s less about where i am compared to someone else, and more about whether i’m improving, whether i’m learning, and whether i’m showing up in a way that feels right to me. i get a lot of messages about how to get into marketing or how to navigate your career, and i always hesitate because i don’t feel like i have everything figured out. but i think that’s kind of the point. most people don’t. you just get better at making decisions with the information you have. if you’re in college or just starting out, one thing i wish i understood earlier is that you don’t need to have everything mapped out. you just need to keep moving, pay attention to what energizes you, and be honest with yourself about what doesn’t. growth isn’t always loud or obvious. sometimes it just looks like showing up, reflecting, adjusting, and continuing forward. and over time, that really does add up. 💌 rooting for the both of us 🍀 #workvlog #Vlog #asmr #dayinthelife #dayinmylife

Hey Ellen! I’m a PMM in tech and live in OC. I’ve considered the SoCal to SF commute and would love it if you could make a video that explains how you were able to get that approved by your managers, the whole day to day logistics behind everything, plus the pros and cons!
