@thegalacticgal: Steep budget cuts proposed for NASA FY2027 (again), including ~50% cuts to many science programs and eliminating critical STEM education programs that develop the critical talent we need to maintain a tech and science edge going forward. Stay to the end for a positive note! #nasa #Science #technology #space
idk, this one is hard to argue with right now because of how much money is being lost everywhere. Yes science should be prioritized but man this government just wastes money everywhere

You'd think after a successful Artemis II they would give the agency even more funding... Nope, unreasonable cuts to the budget again 🤦♂️

They could cut military budget by just 1%... That's around... $20 Billion.... They'll even have more money!

Didn’t SpaceX prove beyond any doubt that NASA’s budgets are overly inflated? It’s not about spending money but delivering.

NASA can not do what they want to do even if they had every dollar current on the planet. I work on the ML2 launcher and they just shelved it. When it is 80% done. Our only hope is Spacex and blue origin.

Nasa should sell their 3d prints to make a little money. You can 3d printer a lot of things there.

Well the space force just got 70 billion. And there are a lot of space start-ups that are investing their own money into space so…

They need more money not less. Think of all the things we could do if they just gave them a full 5% of the budget. They Get less than 1% right now. Significantly less than 1% actually. It’s wild.

A 1.5 trillion dollar defense budget is crazy stupid. We need to “DOGE” our defense department. There is almost certainly billions upon billions of dollars being wasted there. Science needs to be funded, period.

Government run programs are inherently more efficient than privately run programs. With proper auditing and oversight this is abundantly clear. Government run health insurance programs have an administrative overhead cost of ~5%. Private healthcare is about 18%. Government programs don’t have to make a profit, and they don’t suffer the same issues of conflict of interest as when corporate interests are running government programs.

NASA's budget for fiscal year (FY) 2026 is $24.4 billion. It represents 0.35% of the $7.0 trillion the United States spent in the previous year. The technologies that it spins off and the amount of knowledge gained is immense. The entire 22 member National Science Board was just fired without reason. NSB directed what science projects got funding. This administration has handcuffed agencies CDC NOAA EOD EPA etc by cutting funding. Anything to do with science, knowledge and the safety of the people. This is extremely dangerous. Remember the run up to his first term his pitch was a businessman should run the country. Well all they are doing is maximizing their profits at the expense of the 95%. They are not saving money, they are redirecting it to their pockets. They want dumb, broke worker bees while they gather all the riches this country has to offer. It’s disgusting
