@narcfamilies: Hi, it's Juliana! When most people get upset, they have an internal pressure release valve. They breathe, they think, they feel and the pressure comes down. It’s called emotional regulation. Narcissistic parents… they don't really have that valve. So when pressure builds, they relieve it by pushing it out through their environment. Noise, movement, slamming, yelling, things like that. It's not always about trying to scare you. It's more about trying to relieve internal pressure that has nowhere else to go. But intent doesn't matter, because it still is scary. And growing up around it can leave you living in a constant state of alert. You start feeling on edge most of the time, even when nothing's happening. Like you can't fully relax, even when things are fine. Like part of you is always watching, waiting for the next pressure release. If you can relate to this at all and need someone to talk to about it, you can always send me a DM or schedule a session with me. My team and I help people heal from narcissistic abuse, and many of us have experienced it ourselves, so we're here if you need us. To your healing, Juliana ❤️🩹

My mom always did that. Sometimes when I'm really upset and overwhelmed I see the urge to act like that in myself. it's scary. I never learned how to properly regulate my emotions so I have to work on it now in adulthood 🙃

My mom. She would make all this noise and be loud as hell just over a spoon in the sink that I refused to wash even though she’s the one who put there. I was ten 😑

My mom is like this. After an hour, she’ll approach/ talk to me again with all smiles and hugs like nothing happened. It is mentally draining and exhausting
