Pan pan also gives you priority on the coms. Other pilots should stay off frequency when you announce if at all possible

So it is a pan pan pan. They are going from Boston to DCA and call for direct to DCA the decide to turn back to Boston…. There are a tons of airports between DCA and Boston….. why are they deciding between DCA and Boston??? Why not an airport they may actually be near
