Brandon had some leftover watermelon and cantaloupe and asked: “Nic, can you turn this into a BBQ sauce?” Of course. Why not? The flavor was incredible right away. The problem was texture. It was too thin, which meant the watermelon and cantaloupe flavors disappeared. As soon as I added mustard, the body improved and the flavors started holding their own. Then came the fun part. We shared it with customers and the team. Carson’s reaction was priceless. “Man… this is good.” I wish I had recorded it. That said, I’m not done yet.
