The adult in you protects the inner child. Reparenting ourselves. I have felt this way with my mom. Wanting a version that doesn't exist. I now protect my inner child like I protect my own children. No access without apology, accountability, and changed behavior. I wish her well just not in my life. It's peaceful over here after calming my nervous system from thinking it was in trouble for choosing what is best for me. 💯
