@meatdad: Ever open a pack of pork and catch a quick “gassy” smell… then it disappears? That’s actually pretty normal. Most fresh meat today is packaged using vacuum sealing or modified atmosphere packaging (MAP). When the meat is sealed up tight, natural gases can build up slightly in the package. When you open it, you might notice a brief odor—but once the meat hits fresh air, it goes away within a minute or two. 👉 That quick smell = trapped packaging gases 👉 Smell that sticks around = different story (don’t ignore that) The key: If the smell disappears quickly and the meat looks normal (good color, no slime), you’re good to go. The more you understand your food, the better decisions you make. #meatknowledge #butchertips #pork #farmtotable #knowyourfood
Can you do a video on why we do not need to wash meats before cooking.

I have heard it is partially due to the bone dust/residue that causes a chemical reaction with air to make that smell.
