It’s not due to rising costs of cocoa. The farmers are finally demanding a fair price and the multinational companies are refusing to pay them a liveable wage. So instead they’re creating lab grown chocolate to bypass the farmers.

I ve been in a chocolate plantation on Ecuador. The people have to work so damn hard to harvest cocoa and companies are starting to pay lower than before (like 70$ for 200kg of raw cocoa). And that s a lot of cocoa beans. Like 40.000
