Tony also was more invested in the plate of rigatoni in front of him than listening to a word of what Carmella was saying throughout the whole conversation

Awesome. I love Carmela. Edie Falco is one of the best actors of our time, btw.

The logic fits the narrative and I enjoyed your analysis. I guess my question would be was this intentional by the writers? If so that’s pretty exceptional.

I like to image after Tony’s death Carmela finds herself!! Like she told Vic the interior designer in S2 someday she would be free to do whatever she wants. I like to image she even returns to Paris and has a fling with a young handsome Frenchmen like Rosalie

i love the idea of Carmella being in some kind of loop. I felt similarly when she decided to get back together with Tony after the separation

I’m truly curious if the writers are writing the scenes with this much depth and the actors are executing it or are we just able to create this depth after the fact with what they gave us to work with. The latter is still impressive but the former is Masterful

This is a beautiful analysis. It adds so much to the whole literary subtext running over Carmella’s story; Madam Bovary, Billy Budd, the Eloise and Abelard… All of those stories have subtexts that correlate to Carmella and her choice to stay in a loveless marriage for money. She admits as much to the priest early on in the show. This makes me look at her in a whole new light.

this was such a great deep dive. I have watched this show... no joke... 30 times at least... and I never thought this scene through like this. but it makes so much sense.
