@auralifecoaching: ADHD in the workplace isn’t about making excuses , it’s about fair access, reasonable adjustments, and being able to do your job without constant barriers. The Equality Act 2010 is a landmark UK statute that legally protects individuals from discrimination, harassment, and victimisation in workplaces and wider society. It harmonised over 116 separate pieces of legislation into one, establishing nine protected characteristics and defining unlawful behaviours, including direct, indirect, and intersectional discrimination. It applies to England, Scotland and Wales. #adhd #adhdworkplace #adhdworklife #adhdlife #adhdsupport

Doesn't matter, I did all of this and got accommodations approved from HR and then my manager started acting funny after my accommodations were approved. I submitted complaints to HR about how I was being treated post accommodations, and was then fired.

HR said they would only consider making adjustments once I had an official diagnosis.

I was diagnosed with ADHD combined type in October last year, I told the manager/head of hr who was interviewing me for an apprenticeship job which I landed, that I was in the middle of my diagnosis. They said they would support me, when I started, I gave them a full in depth report of my assessment/diagnosis with my struggles etc, they said they would make reasonable adjustments. I was really struggling with burnouts etc as I had other personal things going on, they ended up getting rid of the people who were dealing with my adjustments and they never picked it up again. I then had a meeting where I was told I wouldn’t need any reasonable adjustments as adhd is a “behaviour type” and my diagnosis was getting the “better of me”, this was coming from someone who was also neurodivergent and I felt like I had been completely failed. I ended up resigning a few weeks later 😞

I mentioned my ADHD at my quarterly review and I was terminated a month later because I called out my boss for putting me on the spot during a staff meeting and not allowing me to look at my notes before she belittled me in front of everyone for not being able to remember a specific client (out of about 200 of them). It was absolute discrimination and they did not care in the least - it was blatant.

I am lucky. My workplace have been great. I can start anywhere in core hours so 6.30 to 10am and finish 2.30 if needed so I can avoid commuting traffic which is a huge trigger for me.

I'm audhd, I keep quiet, last thing I need is to get on wrong side of HR. Rather be working than not.

What if you suffered~ were so overwhelmed had to quit and were hit with a disciplinary action vs help. But I didn’t have a diagnosis back then. I left 2022- worked there 13 years.

I have been with my company for three years, I have never officially reported my Adhd. I have a professional diagnosis and I am medicated, however I still struggle. How would I go about reporting this to my employer?

I can't get a job if I say im disabled especially with AuDHD and PTSD but let me lie and say I don't and have a million call backs. they dont care about us at all. even when I did work and the employers knew about my diagnosis' they still treated me poorly which is why I always quit in 6 months and I keep getting denied for disability idk what to do anymore 😔

I quit my job 2 years ago because they refuse to let me work from home or another area in the office. Our working area was an extremely loud sales floor 😳. I clearly did my best work at home …

On the flip side, it should also be noted that not every job is suitable for every person.

I quit my job a year ago due to my adhd and menopause, but I have tried to get a job since and I just fail the interviews, I am a senior community mental health nurse and have been for years but get me in front of an interview panel and I am like a 5 year old never heard of a job before, I have asked for the questions in advance but they give me the questions in the interview and ask me to sit there for 20 minutes and write my answers which I find stressful and I dont want to appear different or difficult so I just forget it and of course dont get the job. what are my rights around this please.
