Actually, everyone says the story can't be changed, but Julie indirectly changed it. When she went to the ruins and entered, Boyd was trapped in the well, and Martin told Julie to throw the rope into the well. And Julie threw the rope. That way, Boyd was freed. So she was able to change Boyd's story. Because if Julie hadn't gone inside the ruins that day, Boyd would have been trapped there cursed, just like Martin.
