people act like a character being a little quirky, being more free with their decisions and behavior means you’re dumb. Have anyone ever thought that luffy is so impulsive and doesn’t think much (aka “dumb”) is BECAUSE he’s been free from the start? He’s not limited (keyword: limited) to his thoughts, he doesn’t even think. It canonically makes his brain hurt, but his emotionally intelligence and instincts, how he reads people are so peak that he’s so, so smart.
