#Denji is the main protagonist of the manga and anime Chainsaw Man, created by Tatsuki Fujimoto. Denji starts as an extremely poor teenager who inherits a huge debt from his dead father. To survive, he works as a devil hunter for the yakuza while living in a tiny shack and barely having enough food to eat. His only companion is Pochita, a small orange devil that looks like a dog with a chainsaw sticking out of its head. Pochita helps Denji hunt devils so they can pay off the debt. There he works alongside other devil hunters like Aki Hayakawa and Power. Denji’s personality is very different from typical anime heroes. He’s immature, reckless, and often motivated by basic desires like food, comfort, or affection. However, beneath that simple mindset is someone who has suffered extreme poverty and loneliness. Because he never had a normal life, even small things—like toast with jam or someone caring about him—mean a lot to him. In battle, Denji fights brutally and without fear. His chainsaw powers allow him to tear through powerful devils, making him one of the most dangerous fighters in the series.
