I disagree. Not everyone who’s just starting out—or just beginning to attend church—has built the habit of reading and testing Scripture yet. That takes time, discipline, and growth. There’s nothing wrong with church being the spark. It can inspire, awaken something, and point people toward Jesus. From there, it’s on each person to pursue Him daily and keep that fire burning. We all start somewhere. Don’t forget how you started sis.

Personally, I don’t go to church to learn theology. I do that on my own time. I go to church to hear the ways that the theology shows up in our lives! Idk if that makes sense, but my deep study of the word happens at home. For me, church is about fellowship and application ❤️❤️

You are half right. We shouldn’t be only hearing the gospel though. As Paul said, “let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and move on to maturity (Hebrews 6:1).” There are always new things we can learn in the Bible: nobody knows everything. As long as everything is scriptural there is nothing wrong with having a new revelation. It’s called discipleship.

What about a church where a sermon is being done and I'm wondering where the context is and why this turned into a motivational speech and not a deep dive into the word? The word is right there and yet it seems more like an accessory than the main point? I'm wondering if I'm being too picky just because I study my Bible and listen to sermons where they get into it
