@survival.doctors: Did you know you can bleed out in MINUTES? Most people with a neck wound sadly never make it to the hospital. They bleed out before the ambulance even gets close. 12 to 15 minutes is the average response time. Longer if the active threat hasn't been neutralized. Your neck doesn't care about any of that. Apply direct pressure. Find cover. Sit or lie down. Do NOT get up and run. If you feel lightheaded you've already lost a dangerous amount of blood. Feet up the wall. Get blood back to your brain. You need to think clearly for what comes next. If the wound is big enough, pack it. Gauze, clothing, whatever is there. Pack it until it's rock hard. Hold it. If it's too small to pack, sustained pressure is the only thing between you and lights out.
