@phantasticphysics: Mind blown! 🤯 Only a few members in this truss bridge actually do the work. Most are useless! #EngineeringFacts #StructuralEngineering #DidYouKnow #TikTokLearningCampaign #Physics
your analysis is wrong, it's not backed by physics. if you use cos&sin you'll findout that those members are not redundant

Why is the load not resisted by the two members that are also connected to the point where the load is applied?

As an electrical engineer i didn't know this. You explain it well. Thanks

people saying he is incorrect dont know how to do statics and method of joints.

No member is doing any work. Work requires displacement. This bridge is static, therefore zero work being done.

Your focus is on tension, what about buckling and deformation???

You are over simplifying the case by not considering the self weight of each element. forces in the erased elements are Indeed low but not Zero.
Gravity and self weight exists...😁

even if that load was static (as drawn, no cars) it would still be a bad idea to remove those forces becasue of buckling in the top chord members, 2 order effects, etc
