@museofloveee: I’ve been growing my dreadlocks for 3 years now and I love every part of this journey. I’ve always been a naturalist, so it came easy for me to care for my locs using natural ingredients. My hair also naturally grows thick & long, so I’ve learned from an early to age maintain its health & length. My biggest tip would be to LEAVE YOUR LOCS ALONE. The whole point of locs (for me as a woman of Jamaican heritage) is to embrace the natural beauty of my hair and how it is supposed to grow. You don’t need a retwist every month, you don’t need styles that make it look like you don’t have locs (literally defeats the purpose of starting locs). You don’t need perfect parts. You don’t need your locs to still look like the texture you had when you had loose hair BECAUSE THEY ARE DREADLOCKS. You don’t need to be using all these chemicals in your locs daily, you only need to make sure it is clean, oiled and moisturized…THAT’s IT. You NEED to be eating healthy and taking care of your body and what you eat, as this directly reflects the health of your hair, skin & body.
