@futurepot.money: 10 UK universities most likely to go bankrupt by 2030. If your child is going to one of these, you need a backup plan. The list: #10 - University of Bolton #9 - University of Bedfordshire #8 - London Metropolitan University #7 - University of Cumbria #6 - University of Sunderland #5 - University of East London #4 - Middlesex University #3 - University of West London #2 - London South Bank University #1 - University of Greenwich Why these universities? Declining applications, unsustainable debt levels, over-reliance on international students (who are now going to Netherlands/Germany instead), course cuts, campus closures. The warning signs are there. The next 5 years will see mergers, closures, and collapses across UK higher education. These 10 are most at risk. What happens if your uni closes mid-degree? - Transfer to another uni (lose credits, extend time) - Degree says different name than when you started - Or worst case: no degree, still have debt If your kid is at one of these universities, check their backup options now. If they haven't started yet? Consider: - Universities NOT on this list - Apprenticeships (£0 debt, get paid) - Europe (Netherlands/Germany, fraction of cost) - Saving instead of borrowing (FuturePot.co.uk) I'm not celebrating this. I'm warning you. The university funding model is broken. These are the first to fall. Is your uni on the list? Tell me in comments. #UKUniversities #StudentDebt #UniversityFunding #HigherEducation #Dadosphere #StudentLoans #UniversityCrisis #FuturePot

All ten are objectively awful universities so nothing much would be lost tbh, it’s places like York, Nottingham and Dundee which are good universities yet struggling financially which is very concerning

All were originally colleges or Polytechnics. Should have remained as such. Many provided good technical education, and courses that employers valued.

University education for many people does not provide employment at the end of the course.

I am a university lecturer not working at any of these but I do hold a degree with one of these!! It’s because of Brexit, changing demands of employers, rapid emergence of Gen AI and a surge in demand for apprenticeships. Education is a business and needs to evolve to meet the demand and be innovative otherwise you loose student interest!

none are great unis. it's a competitive market and if bad unis don't survive then that's just the way it is

To any students reading the caption on this video: You will not lose your degree. Universities here are regulated by the Office for Students and have to have Student Protection Plans in place.
If a course or uni closes, students are usually taught out or transferred with their credits, you don’t just lose your degree and end up with nothing.

As somebody who did a masters at UEL, even if I paid local fees because it was pre Brexit, I understand. The level was super poor for the price. I paid a 10% of that price in Spain for a richer course with more knowledge and practice. They just want you to pay and get a title. I didn't learn anything.

You said UK but these are all English universities. Is there something about the England education system that is different from the rest of the UK?
