@guanhistoryandculture: 𝗞𝗼𝗳𝗶 𝗔𝗻𝗶 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗻 was a Ghanaian highlife pioneer born to farming parents in Obosomase, a Guan community in the Akwapim area of Ghana’s Eastern Region. He received his early education at a Presbyterian school, leaving in 1955 before taking up various jobs. In 1966, he joined the Ghana Police Band, where his powerful voice quickly distinguished him as a leading performer. Rising to prominence in the 1970s, he became one of Ghana’s foremost highlife musicians, with hit songs such as “Madamfo Pa Beko” and “Madesuam Aye Duru,” earning him widespread acclaim and several awards. He collaborated with the legendary E. T. Mensah before forming his own group, the Parrots Band, in 1970. In 1978, he transitioned into gospel highlife, blending Christian themes with traditional rhythms. He remains a significant figure in preserving and shaping Ghana’s highlife heritage. #guans #obosomase #akuapem #music #highlife

I personally know him. We attended the same church called God's church of Peace around Darkuman junction in Accra.
Besides, my mum and I visited him at his residence behind Gloryland hotel @ Odorkor before his death. I was then a kid. He was such a great personality. May his soul rest in peace🙏
