Sadly USA is more about talking about freedom then real freedom.

Listen, electric is great in theory unless you think about it for too long. The average family of 3 to 4 was two sedans almost will never need a gas powered vehicle. But there is not a single Diesle truck in any weight class that could ever be replaced by an electric vehicle with today’s level of technology. We are 20 to 40 years out and minimum. These vehicles need to be able to haul at least twice their weight. In the case of semi sometimes three times their weight uphill for 100s of miles and then need to be able to refuel in under 10 minutes. Honestly, if you want to improve the environment as counterintuitive as it sounds remove emissions on Diesle engines and let them run more efficiently

Way ahead of you brother. My household now only drives EVs (2 of them)! Our grid only uses renewable electricity and it's cheaper. It's been a year and a half and we are never going back to ICE

I love the microgrid idea, where every building has solar and energy storage, and trades the energy back and forth as needed. a topology analogous to the Internet. energy might be so abundant that we don't even bill for usage, just a nominal flat fee, like how we pay for internet

As a GenX, it's a conversation long past due. The 70s, where when we should have started working towards that. I'm old enough to remember the last time we had a gas crisis.

It's because the average us family car is an F150/Escapade that gets barely 2 digit MPG, and in the meantime my tuned 1.9 gets 45mpg with urban usage and ~50mpg doing 90 on the highway

We don't have an EV, but...everything in our house is electric and we have solar panels. At some point, preferably soon, I want to add electric storage. And yes, I'm strongly considering hybrid/EV for my next vehicle

We need an overhaul of clothing & packaging issues. The amount of plastic in both is insane. We have to look at the other ways o&g is screwing us royally and plastic use is a huge one.

Who wouldn’t want electricity and get off OIL? Well that’s easy. The OIL companies and all the politicians that are in their back pockets. The current administration doesn’t care about greenhouse gases nor getting off of OIL because it is a huge money maker. When I fly from Salt Lake City or drive to Los Angeles, you pass that huge solar farm outside of Las Vegas. Why can’t we build dozens more like that? I mean after Lake Mead to Lake Powell get to Deadpool status we’re not gonna be able to generate electricity from the Colorado river anymore. It’s insane. Our policies are insane. We should have the largest solar manufacturing facility on the planet creating thousands of good paying jobs manufacturing distributing and install installing solar panels. But do we do that? No. We have thousands of miles of coastline and I don’t believe we have any title power plants where you use the tide to generate electricity. I know that could be a little controversial because of the environment and see life, etc., but we don’t even seem to explore that. On top of that Trump is building new cold plants. Yes cold does provide good paying jobs especially for the Railroad that halls coal and that’s great but eventually we need to get off of Cole because despite what Donald Trump thinks it is not a clean way to get electricity. There is no such thing as clean coal. Also, I wanted to point out one more thing we do not have any true high-speed rail anywhere in the United States at this moment. Yes we have the northeast Corridor from Boston to DC and yes, supposedly we’re gonna build high speed rail from Vegas to just outside of Los Angeles but right now we don’t even have high speed rail. Insane.

It’s so nice! I’ve got 4.4kw off grid solar and 14kw battery. I switched from f350 to hybrid f150 and plan to get the new scout/ lightning when available. I drive a Rivian for work. It’s soooo nice, and makes so much sense- except for towing. That’s why I think Erev’s are the big future for everyone else that pure ev doesn’t fit

full electrification isn't even that involved for the average person. most people need AC; might as well make that a heat pump in the winter. an electric water heater is just as capable as a gas heater. and induction stoves beat gas for most cooking
