We are the Ethiopian brothers and sisters currently living, working, and seeking safety within the South Africa. Mr. President, the history between our two nations is not merely diplomatic; it is blood-bound. During the darkest days of Apartheid,Ethiopia stood as a sanctuary and a fortress for the liberation movement. We remember with pride: Providing refuge and military training to the late, great Nelson Mandela when he sought help abroad. The Ethiopian passports issued to South African freedom fighters to ensure their safe travel across the globe. Our shared commitment to a continent free from oppression and violence. Today, many Ethiopians living in South Africa are facing immense fear. Reports of insecurity and targeted violence against foreign nationals are deeply concerning. We are not just residents; we are your neighbors, business owners, and friends who believe in the "Rainbow Nation." Our Humble Request We urge your administration to: 1. Prioritize the safety of the Ethiopian community and all foreign nationals currently under threat. 2.Reinforce the rule of law to ensure that no one—regardless of their origin—lives in fear of their neighbors. 3. Honor the historic legacy of Pan-Africanism that Mandela and the leaders of Ethiopia built together. We ask you, Mr. President, to lead with the same courage Ethiopia showed South Africa decades ago. Let us work together to end the "jollies" of violence and replace them with the peace our ancestors fought for. Please share
