@dr.adam.dell: Who doesn't want to be a winner, an overcomer and feel in charge of their life? You're taught how to live so that your life is good and how to prevent bad things from happening. You take classes, workout, eat clean, get plenty of rest, budget your money, and do your best to enjoy your one happy life. You assume that if you follow all of life's rules, life will be kind to you. What you're often not taught is how to live if trauma does occur in your life. For whatever reasons, hard times inevitably come and trauma does happen sometimes. Trauma can come into your life like a flood of pain or terror in the dark of night and when it does, your life is forever altered. Can beauty rise for you from the ash heap of trauma? Yes, it can. Look up! You must work through your frailty, possible despair, anxiety, and emotional exhaustion, so that you don't become a bitter human being full of self-pity. There absolutely is hope. It's girded up with a good friend, a therapist, or a strong support system. Those that grow in courage, endurance, strength, and in new vision can overcome. It is slow work and often you don't even know how strong you've become until you reflect on how much you've changed. For those in Christ, if you are overcome by trauma, moment by moment, put your hope in his promises. He is the God that loves you enough to be with you. His ear is not too dull to hear your cries. He listens to you attentively and though your foot slips, he reaches for your hand so that you will not be ruined. Did you know that he reaches for your hand? He does. His arm is not too short to save you. In his kind mercy, he does not leave you in a collapsed heap. His strong arm steadies you and establishes your steps on ground that is solid. He brings comfort, gives you courage, peace, and hope. He brings you new life.
