@101receipts: Tracey Emin, Before the Institution A 90s interview with Tracey Emin, at a time when her work was still raw, confrontational, and often misunderstood. Speaking from within the Young British Artists era, she reflects on a shift, from making art rooted in pain to something she could live with, even enjoy. Back then, her work was framed as provocative, even scandalous. But much of that reaction said more about the culture around her than the work itself. Sex, confession, vulnerability, all used as a kind of language, one that challenged what audiences were willing to see, especially when authored by a woman.
