My daughter wasn’t diagnosed until 14, 16 now. Seems like her life just gets harder and harder. I think school is creating the majority of the struggle. I am realizing changing to online format will likely be best way to support her. And if we do I hope the daily struggles feel less, the anxiety and depression hopefully lessen.

correct. Autism and ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder, it's not something that can be fixed.

my son is 14 now and is just getting diagnosed with autism even though I know hes always had it. I fought doctors for years and years demanding to have him tested because I knew he had it and he was not getting the supports he needed for behavior issues and therapy.

Were you diagnosed by a psychologist or a psychiatrist? I think I might be autistic, but my therapist says I’m probably not because I maintain eye contact. Still, I relate to a lot of autistic traits, and it’s really frustrating. I’m 34, and I don’t want things to keep getting worse over time. I don’t know who I should talk to about this.

I have two (9 & 6) but I think my 17 is also - he refuses to be evaluated. Any advice on how to help.

Could you talk a bit about your coping mechanisms? For instance I can tell when my adult son is very stressed about something because he will take several showers a day. I wish he would confide in me his current difficulities, but he doesn’t

This hits hard for me because I'm trying so hard to just deal with it later, but as it's been piling on for so long its getting even harder to just function

I realized I was autistic at 49 when I noticed I hadn’t grown out of any of my “quirks” and challenges like I thought I would 🤣

i found people are much more forgiving of slow learning, mistakes, and meltdowns when you're a kid. its not acceptable as an adult and its sad 😔

My daughter was just recently diagnosed with autism level 1, adhd. She was diagnosed with ocd as a child but thinking there was more and there was.

I was on an IEP in school and they made it sound like one day you will grow up and grow out of this with all this training. They lied
