@thisisrobinw: Back in 2023 Google invited me to attend their Product Equity & Inclusion conference in California where I met many brilliant business owners and brand leaders. While there I connected with a rep from Target’s Black Business Accelerator Program this was years before the boycott so I applied. I was not selected, but it seems, in an attempt to weasel their way back from the financial damage of a years long boycott, Target is reaching deep into the annals of their gay, Black Rolodex to pander to LGBTQ+ businesses JUST IN TIME for pride month. To make matters worse, the invite isn’t a community discussion, an event where restorative justice or harm repair is the focus. NO, they want to gather us gays to give US feedback on our brands. I’m sure there will be business owners who attend, snapping their photos, tagging @target and going live to give them publicity during Pride month in hopes of networking or making connections that they can use when/if the boycott loosens or ends, but why would you even want to work with a brand that rescinds your access and rejects your magic, then invites you back not to talk, but to “share their expertise.” Not me!
