I'm curious if it's at all possible she has potentially plateaued from some of her meds, which would essentially render them "less" effective since she'd had grown a tolerance. But it alsou can be important to rule out underlying sources of pain or discomfort that may not be obvious, especially in those who are nonverbal or have complex needs (things like dental pain, Gl issues (constipation, reflux), otitis, headaches etc etc..It may also be helpful to ensure there's an updated functional behavior assessment to better understand triggers and reinforcement patterns, along with a sort of behavior intervention plan that focuses on teaching and reinforcing replacement communication or coping skills rather than only suppressing the behavior, IF possible. In many cases,
increasing access to AAC or other communication supports can make a good difference if frustration or unmet needs are a strong driver. From an OT side of things, sensory regulation supports and environmental adjustments can also sometimes reduce escalation.. depending on what her profile looks like, and
coordinated input from neurology, behavioral health, OT, and primary care is often what's needed for complex cases like this. I'm very sorry again, thinking of you during this time.as I said on another one of your posts, please take care of yourself. Caregiver fatigue is a very real thing 💙
