@dakotahtyrene: Microneedling truth: more bleeding ≠ better results. Let’s talk Dr. Pen vs SkinPen, FDA 510(k) clearance, acne scar treatments, and what actually matters in collagen induction therapy. #esthetician #microneedling
I have used the skin act which basically the same thing as DR PEN and I use SkinPen all the time. I really love skin pen but I feel like it really is my technique, skin assessment and personalized treatment that has really mattered. I have seen great results with both.

I’ve had good results using the Dr. Pen, I just have a hard time wanting to invest in SkinPen. I’ve been thinking about getting the pen from Herbal Essence. It’s hard to find something comparable when starting solo.

I worked at Med Spa for 9 years that only used Dr. Pen (heavy Groupon users) then I switched to a very different Med Spa that only uses SkinPen. While you’re right Dr. Pen is good, SkinPen results have been unmatched and my clientele that switched over immediately saw drastic results and I genuinely haven’t switched my technique. The price point is different but I’ve been amazed with SkinPen! I believe if you’re budget allows get SkinPen, if not stick to Dr. Pen! It truly does come down to the controlled damage!

I have tried several different pens, including the Dr. Pen and the results of Skin Pen are always better. By results I mean, pore size, texture improvement, scarring improvement. Also, Dr. Pen cartridges also vary greatly and there are so many counterfeit cartridges floating around of Dr Pen. Also, from a cleanliness perspective, Skin Pen does not have the risk for cross contamination.

Licensed aesthetician love my Dr. Pen! Have used skin pen many times and love it but the $75 cartridge price is insane. I wish that Dr pen came out with the plastic disposable protective sleeves so I would feel good about using it on clients

As an aesthetician and laser tech who has worked exclusively in the medical arena, I have used both actually not only both of those but other micro needling devices. I have 24 years experience and I’m telling you that as long as you can control the depth and speed and you are using well designed cartridge tips can achieve the same results. I think companies Skin specifically is trying to promote themselves as being so much better than everyone and at the end of the day that’s nonsense. What separates the efficacy of a pen has a lot to do with the technician and how well they know how to utilize.

Thank you for clarifying the difference between FDA clearance and approved! These terms get slinged around so often just for marketing without really understanding the difference.

Thank you for saying more bleeding doesn’t lead to better results! I feel like there is such a misunderstanding when it comes to this

We used them at my old spa. I felt like some of them- idk it was just weird and would drag- but it also depended upon the amount of needles the tip had. I wish I knew the two models we used. But one of them was definitely way better than other- but also depended upon the amount of needles in the tip.

Isn’t the FDA approved .. isn’t that for the flush back system.. to avoid bodily fluids and infections for clients. Cross contamination etc.. I mean multiple devices can claim that but if it isn’t stamped and sealed isn’t that why ppl would be concerned considering that’s a health risk and
