You text your therapists?? I'm "allowed" to text my therapist, but it's for scheduling purposes. When she says "feel free to text if you need anything" it means "feel free to text me if you need to book an urgent appointment", not free therapy over text

Yall need to realize a therapist isn't emotionally indebted to you just because you shared your problems with them. A therapist is also a professional who is expected to be treated as such. They are also human beings who can burn out. Yes, they are there to help you with whatever you are dealing with but that doesn't mean you are allowed to push their boundaries and you shouldn't expect to have an actual deep emotional connection with your therapist. They are just there to do their job and help you BE better not FEEL better.

As a therapist this is insane! There's only been a handful of instances I had to bill for a call and in all cases they were an hour or more. Also billed to insurance so only copay was paid.

As someone who’s in school to become a therapist: guys please understand this field makes it REALLY easy to burn out. It’s recommended that you don’t allow clients to have your personal number for their (the therapist’s) own benefit, but if they chose to do so that doesn’t mean they’re your friend they are still a professional providing a service to you.
