Also don’t forget that wages haven’t changed in 40+ years so not only is 100k now worth 40k but we’re still making the same amount they were in 1991 so it’s even worse than you can imagine. Prices haven’t stopped rising but wages never changed

40k in 1991 was well above average. The median personal income that year was about $15,000, which works out to about $37,000 today. Today’s median personal income is considerably higher than that, at around $52,000.
