Mulch is needed. Bare soil get roasted by the sun and loses soil bacteria due to that.

I do all of this meticulously and put down fresh, beautiful black mulch, then my husband comes along on the mower and blows it full of clippings. 😡😡😡

bare soil is the biggest gardening myth. bare soil= dead soil. you need mulch or beneficial ground cover plants if youre worried about weeds
