i've developed a very annoying decision tree that i force everyone to engage with until someone helps choose. i start with "do you want something hot or something cold?", then "are you snack-hungry or big-meal hungry?", "do you want to sit down and hang out somewhere or just grab-and-go?", "more protein or more carbs?" (if carbs "savory or sweet?"), "on a spectrum of soup to very crunchy, how much structural integrity?", "spice: yes or no?", "something familiar or something new?", "do you want a cocktail? a coffee? any specific fun-little-drink?" eventually either i can excavate what they want from their responses or they get sick of me and grow an opinion

Y'all I know a lot of us genuinely dont care BUT just saying "idk idc" isn't helpful and can come off as uncaring, even if you dont care just pick a place at random and say it, you can still add "But ill go with whatever the group decides" but making a suggestion even half heartedly will help

life hack: get a party member who has a major allergy (gluten for example) cause it really does narrow down your choices. it’s still near impossible to choose but it does make it slightly easier
