you got them "wrong" because teachers expect you to answer not in daily language but according to the chapter you learned. i.e. you need to write "I went out." but you said "I've been out". is what im guessing, because i was "bad at academic english" for the exact reason even though i was very ahead of my class

a lot of foreign language learning is just sentence conjugation and understanding grammatical rules. this is honestly a joyless and painful process that we should not care about. vocabulary is far and away the most important barrier to entry for most foreign language acquisition and i will die on that hill
