@jordxn.simone: before you abandon the South in the future, remember almost 55% of the national Black population lives here. Remember this region has the largest Black population in the nation. Remember that they will do anything to keep us from having a voice, that sometimes, they win, and that it takes time to dust yourself off and keep fighting. #voting #votingrights #south #black

I just can’t imagine the depth of grief the African American community is feeling right now. I am so sorry.

People don’t realize that we have living relatives and grandparents who lived through the Civil Rights Era. I listen to their stories and now they are seeing their hard work being undone!!

My mama and I had the discussion last night that she was born without civil rights as both a Black person and a woman and that I was born with them and we are watching them be ripped away.

The whole point is that we all deserve to have equal access to vote however we see fit. This is a horrible time in our history and I am truly so sorry.

My great grandma didn’t vote until she was 41 when she first voted, my grandma was 8. My grandma was 8 years old when she saw her mom vote for the first time. That was in 1974

I was asking my dad today about how he was feeling about everything, and all he could do was sigh and say "I've seen this before" 😮‍💨 he's so tired

This happens after Mississippi just gained more blue seats than ever before in the most recent special elections. The south is ruled by the ancestors of the plantation owners and klan members. They want to have power over Black people and anyone saying ANYTHING else are gravely blind or stupid or complicit.

💔 it's absolutely heartbreaking. these people fought for so many rights that are being taken away. this is probably the worst thing to occur.

My grandma was born in 1929. My mom was born in 1963. I was born in 1992… I now have less rights than them.

My feed is mostly political so and I’ve been seeing a lot of videos similar to yours. As heavy as the feeling is I refuse to scroll until the end. Your voice matters. The bare minimum I can do is listen. I’m grieving for and with you. But I’ll never give up. We must keep up the fight. 🫶

I think about my Nana, how happy she was in 1965. I was 8 & I remember that people were happy when Civil rights passed, but I'm in MA..the majority here always wanted equal rights & a better world.
