Do we truly look for someone who complements us, or just someone who fits into what is socially acceptable? Izuku and Ochako might put in the effort and work because they are similar, but is that what actually fills their orbits? If we’re being honest, the problem isn’t a lack of chemistry, but prejudice: it’s hard for us to accept the depth of what two men feel due to mere culture, but if one of them were a woman, this story would undoubtedly be the most anticipated and acclaimed romance of all time. We wouldn't call a devotion that forced the other to rebuild their identity from scratch 'friendship.' In the end, All Might was the vision of victory, but the one who was there every day, being the real axis that transformed Izuku’s perspective on life, was him. Are we valuing the bond by the intensity of its devotion, or are we simply judging it by the mold in which it's presented to us?
And yes, I am referring to BKDK. I know many speak of them disparagingly, using Bakugo's bullying at the start of the series as an argument; but if we frame it differently, wouldn't he fit perfectly into the tsundere mold in any romance anime? Let’s be real: if you analyze it, you have the best romantic development right in front of you, but we return to the cultural prejudices that lead us to question the validity of these feelings. We put excuses on the table to avoid accepting reality because we were shaped by a culture that rejects anything linked to a non-conventional relationship.
