@kawaiiicoco: SAVE this video for your next trip to Japan 🇯🇵 Feel free to use this itinerary for my Toyama trip! Day 1: explore Kanayamachi Street. Visit the Uranium Glass Cast Museum (the owner speaks no English, but don’t let that discourage you from visiting! Google Translate will work just fine), view the old town houses, art galleries and historical landmarks, visit the Takaoka City Casting Museum (there’s a smaller museum at the back. The woman speaks no English, but she’ll give you an English pamphlet that has more information about the area.), enjoy a soba lunch at Tokyotei. Head to the Takaoka Great Buddha, grab Matcha at 木田芳香園, end the day by going to see the Doraemon Walking Trail. Day 2: Visit the Toyama Castle, Toyama Glass Art Museum (they had a special exhibit going on when I visited, but you couldn’t film anything), stop by Ikedaya Yasubei Shoten for traditional Chinese medicine, and in the night at Kansui Park (it’s beautifully illuminated, quiet, and peaceful) Day 3: head to Inami City (wood carving town) and explore Yokamachi Street (plenty of souvenir shopping and you can watch the artisans handcraft the wood carving, Inami Sculpture General Hall, Inamibetsuin Zuisenji and then in the day doing the sightseeing boat at Shogawa Gorge. You buy the tickets for the boat on site so make sure you’re there 30 minutes before the boat departs. They do have a limited capacity and it can get busy! Day 4: explore Himi city, which is the fish port town! You can go to the Himi City Fisheries Cultural Exchange Center and there’s an activity where you can feed the seagulls! There’s also a huge Roadside Station Himi that has a bunch of great food and souvenir shopping. Also check out the cute statues of different manga characters around the city and visit the Fujiko Fujio A Art Collection. It’s a museum where you can see more about the author of Doraemon! A hugely popular series in Japan. Use my new hashtag #LocalsKnowCoco if you find a hidden gem yourself 💗 #japan #japanese #japantravel

We were in a residential area of Naha during a downpour. Ended up at a tiny restaurant with a tiny elderly lady. We were her only customers that day . She made us traditional Okinawa dishes and talked about her time as geisha in Tokyo and Honolulu. We got to see pictures of her youth. It was such a great and surreal experience! I think of her once in a while.

Oh yeah. Japan is losing its populace. In about 150 years, it may be gone completely

Toyama is really a GEM! I thought Yokohama is quiet enough, but Toyama is really underrated 🥹 It’s quiet, it’s beautiful.. had a 4 days trip last year, to visit a friend, and i’d love to visit it again!

That's so sad. It would be fine if there's like 5 people walking around but there's no one. 🥲

My husband and I are going to spend a day in Hakone and Okayama, because I want to get out of the cities a little. Not sure if it's that quiet, but we will try and explore.

Im planning a trip to Japan to see other areas outside the Golden route and I'm definitely adding this on! Were you able to get to all these areas via public transport or did you need to rent a car to go there? 😊

I'm a small town person, get to go to Japan in a year... but I don't know any of the language. Don't want to go to small towns and be disrespectful not knowing how to say anything.
