As you said yourself, it’s easier on figure skating, but still using the technique from its quite good! I learned cantilever by holding on and feeling how the knees is supposed to go. The core strength you need is insane! When you got the movement in normal shoes you can attempt on roller blades

Just because falls don't hurt anymore doesn't mean you can't get injured anymore. People aren't advising you to get padding to prevent a painful bruise, but to prevent a broken hip.

Genuinely, there is no such a thing as building up your body to be immune to pain. If you fall a 100 times on your hip, the 101st fall will not hurt less, but more due previous injuries.
