@mottsworld: I was diagnosed with hidradenitis suppurativa, a skin condition that causes recurring, boil-like abscesses. I get them in my armpits, groin, thighs, and under my stomach. It can hit at any moment, whether I’m draining a flare, bandaging myself, or just looking in the mirror. It’s a constant reminder that my body is changing. One thing I’ve learned is that mindset matters 🧠✨ It shapes how I move through my flares. This morning before work, I had to drain a flare. I didn’t want to. I was tired, my body felt heavy, and I just wanted to stay in bed. Still, I got up and showed up for myself 💪🏾 It was overwhelming. Seeing everything my body had been holding and fighting internally is never easy. But I did it. I took care of myself 🤍 Afterward, I got in the shower, and that warm water on my skin felt like a reset.
I felt a moment of peace 🚿✨ This condition is a lot. It’s draining mentally, physically, and emotionally. And it’s okay to feel that. What matters is how you show up for yourself after. I pushed through the tears, the discomfort, and still showed up today. I’m proud of that 👏🏾 Living with HS means giving yourself grace 🤎 Our bodies go through so much, but we’re still here.
