TheTruth :
Eternity in Hell is an utterly terrifying thought to me, in fact most Christians cannot comprehend it either. Conscious torment for all eternity in buring flames, in utter pitch black darkness is beyond terrifying. There are no words to describe the suffering that will be endured, and it will never end. The most terrifying moment will be when the damned soul finally realises there is absolutely no hope and they will never leave. To be honest this punishment, from purely a human perspective is so great that I wouldn't wish it on Hitler, purely because there is no end to it. I am not saying it is wrong of God to decide this, I am just thinking from a purely human perspective. Even after a 1,000,000,000 years, time there hasn't even begun. But the decision is not mine to make, God makes the rules not me, and he is perfect, I'm not. But I still don't fully understand why frail utterly imperfect creatures like us are placed in charge of our own eternal destiny given the punishment that awaits. If every person who ever lived spent only 5 mins in hell then none of us would ever commit any sin again. The fear of what awaits would be overwhelming. Jesus said his Father was the one to fear. In Romans the Apostle Paul covers this point and says why did God make us this way? The answer is an emphatic "who are you who answers back to God". God has decreed sin so bad that it deserves eternal punishment, which is impossible to comprehend, but we are not perfect eternal beings. The shining light here is the death of Jesus Christ on the cross. If we believe on him, he pays our sin debt. Because either Jesus pays our eternal sin debt to the Father, or each of us pays that debt ourselves. My plea is for everyone to put there trust in Christ, to avoid this horrific fate. God bless everyone.
