Their beef wasn’t necessarily with the concept of monarchy, in fact many of them pushed to have George Washington declared king. Their beef was specifically against George III and parliament.

I’m currently taking govt 111… and what surprised me most was how involved and ACTIVELY the founding fathers and early US were in trying to continuously reevaluate and reassess how things were working… to prevent this sort of a thing.
