Ngl this is exactly how video game adaptations should be done. Make it an original story just set in the universe of the games like Fallout, no point in just retelling the same story but worse.

Is it just me or did that give more of a silent hill vibe then resident evil? Like I’m still gonna watch it but just seem weird to do a RE movie and not have any of the characters in it. Why do a stand alone story in a universe with so much lore? Again, still gonna see it just curious how they came to the idea to do it this way

I've played the games already. I don't want a movie that copies the games. I want something like Resident Evil 7 and 8 that have ties to the Main line games but can be their own things. NOT every video game franchise movie HAS to be just like the games. It just needs its atmosphere and small tie-ins.
