@atlasrecordsuk: POV: You just bought the most hated album of all time☠️ Lou Reed’s Metal Machine Music holds the records for the MOST returns in music history. Imagine buying a Lou Reed record expecting ‘Walking on the Wild Side” and getting an hour of industrial screeching instead? Pure sabotage or pure genius? Let us know in the comments🎸💥#atlasrecordsuk #loureed #vinylrecord #metalmachinemusic #walkonthewildside
Well, it hurts my freakin’ ears at low volume. I can see why it’s called Metal Machine Music.

I think this is the most musical album ever. It is better than Wish You Were Here and the White Album.

Actually a great piece of noise, pretty dynamic. I do find it a bit odd that it ended up being Lou Reed releasing a noise record instead of John Cale

nobody believes when I say this, but I find this album relaxing. it takes just enough mental energy to process music like this that it shuts off all the extra thoughts I usually have running through my mind lol

Birth of industrial rock? Industrial music has existed long before Reed, and it has great melody and concept, this album is just poor, those critics are seeing things with rose tinted glasses.

I like it a lot, it’s quite similar to robert fripp and brian eno’s ambient albums together. If you’re into musique concrete and drone and more minimalistic ambient stuff it’s a very enjoyable listen

As a huge unca Lou fan i bought in 75... understood it as Lous revenge on the record industry...hated it completly because of the noise but loved it for the circumstance that it never ends...you hear the last side...go for holidays...come back and it's still running...😂

its a hard listen...but...if you immerse yourself then you can actually "get it" . That's not a guarantee though 😂. you really really really need to be in the right frame of mind to even try

I listened to it ages ago and I think there’s enough musical ideas to make a 3.5 minute novelty song as a B-side to the final single of a normal album.

Yes, it is art. Many composers have done "similar" electronic sounds. It is monothonic, but it is the idea, I think. Insp. came from feedback and Xenakis.

Is that an original pressing or reissue? I’ve never seen an original with a cover without ringwear - even the cover eventually became irritating😂

I love Lou, but I still find this unlistenable. It’s definitely an artistic statement, though, not a contractual FU
