@fmsmith319: It’s time to abolish federal taxes and replace it with a 10% gross revenue tax to save the middle class and restore the American Dream for all Americans.

I’ve said it for decades…tax me on things I buy but leave my paycheck alone!

Won’t work. Small businesses will crumble with that plan. My business revenue is $800k per year, but my business profits after I pay my employees and expenses is $80k.

So I don’t disagree with your point, but your entire argument is predicated on the idea that if we tax them 10% they’ll raise prices by 10%. As we’ve come to see most companies will see a 10% tax and raise their prices 50% or even 100% so all of that extra money that we would have still wouldn’t make up the difference because these companies know we are going to buy from them. It’s a good concept, but corporations and businesses don’t play by fair rules 🤷‍♂️

10% tax on gross profit is ridiculous. Especially for high revenue low margin businesses

Just a flat rate tax for everyone, low income and billionaires. This covers national roads and defense. Federal then cuts what’s not needed, balance the budget.

I’m not giving 10% of my business money. I create more value giving jobs to my employees than paying taxes. I’m a supporter of business in certain tiers paying less

The idea sounds pretty good, on paper what’s the incentive to stay an American brand? Big corporations already go to where it’s cheapest for them. What’s stopping them from paying new employees less to compensate?

No, we need to close corporate loopholes, what you’re talking about is a regressive tax system. Reagan ruined this country, just undo all his policies and those derived from them.

OK, I hear you, but what’s the motivation to start a business at that point? I feel like 10% should be waved if you’re a small business making less than I don’t know $3 million a year?

I like it, but you have to let businesses deduct direct COGS. A service business can pay 10% of gross revenue, but if you sell a product and your margin is only 2% then no way.

I’m a hairstylist, I brought in $68,000 last year, but my expenses were almost $30,000, so no I would not like to pay 10% on 68,000, when I actually only saw 38,000 after I paid for everything to do my job and paid my salon studio rent. Maybe if this was worked out in a different way for small businesses or self-employed people.

I feel like this would make it really hard for small businesses owners who have smaller margins and can’t afford to raise price because big companies can buy in bulk and have lower prices
