@therapistinrecovery: The more frantic you feel, the more hijacked your brain has become. Urgency is a red flag that you are in an OCD/anxiety cycle and how you respond determines whether you feed it or break it. Therefore, we must act opposite and first get our prefrontal cortex back online! This is simple but often very uncomfortable and requires intentionality. But guess what- the discomfort WILL NOT kill you and you are capable of surviving discomfort. Even if this starts small. This is NOT the only step to breaking the cycle of OCD and anxiety but it IS an important beginning step. Once our prefrontal cortex is online then we are capable of doing the more complicated and difficult steps that follow. I’d love to make a video on those steps so please give me a like and follow if interested! #ocd #obsessivecompulsivedisorder #contaminationocd #ocdawareness #ocdtherapy

Can therapy become a compulsion? If you think you need therapy when you feel anxious?

I don't get it though, if the compulsion results to instant relief and a oxytocin release. I know this is temporary. Are people that don't suffer from OCD naturally have their prefrontal cortex turned on in this instance? Is there how meditation helps to connect the brain?

Okay I’m on a spiral. I’m convinced my Ed dietician and therapist hate me because I lied about completing my meal plan. They both know I have ocd. My theory is they don’t ever validate me because of my ocd. But I’m convinced when they don’t respond/say things in the right way, that they don’t like me and that I’m a terrible person that’s wasting their time. 🙃

Would it still be considered ocd if the brain doesn’t tell you that something bad will happen, but there’s still a compulsion and strong feeling like you have to do something? Sorry I don’t know if that makes sense 😅
