What would you recommend for a teen driver though? We are trying to weigh the cost/benefit of buying an overpriced used car when considering new driver insurance, etc. It’s been a complete headache!

What happens to all the new cars that go unsold? No way all the early-mid 2020s cars were sold right or kept in lots so where do they go

That's WILD! I paid about $30K for my 2025 Rav4. It had 235 miles when I bought it.

Carvana, carmax, driveway, etc. are doing the same thing to the used car market that large apartment complexes have done to rent. They’re slowly and intentionally working the costs for everything up.

Us the consumers are in total control. If we just don’t buy cars they’ll eventually have to sell their cars for cheaper since their inventory will get full

I found a 2015 fit for sale and at that trim they were charging about 3k over original MSRP for a car with 80k miles

I sold my 2021 Kia Telluride to Car Max on May 1 because of high gas prices. I was also concerned about long term longevity. And I was paying too much in insurance also. I may need a new car in several years. It will be a brand new Camry. I think I can get it for under MSRP if I buy a loaded model. That is not the case with RAV4’s right now. And buying used doesn’t make sense anymore. Selling to Car Max made sense for me. Buying from them doesn’t. The prices are way too high. But I understand why people want to avoid the typical dealership experience. Car max and Carvana buy high, sell high, and make most of their money off financing.

This is good advice, but what I would look at is not the MSRP of that car brand new but the MSRP of the 2026 models that are coming out. In particular, the RAV4 non-hybrid if I’m correct is going away forever, and the new models are exceedingly more expensive. You make it seem like it’s a Tone deaf move by Carmax and Carvana, but they might be pricing it against a hybrid version that is still $10,000 more.
