I doubt it goes to Russia, may be to get refined and resold. Heroin is not popular in Russia at all. Alcohol, tobacco yes 100%. Heroine is extremely unusual. I knew very few who ever even tried it

I completely believe this. I was a sophomore in high school in 2005, and I had a history teacher who taught geopolitics and was a great storyteller like you. He pretty much said the same things you did, even without the real-life experience. Before we invaded Afghanistan, he claimed there were no poppy farms or very few; but after 9/11 and our invasion, the agency provided a lot of money, similar to the American incentive for cash crops, to Afghan farmers to produce poppy farms.

My great grandparents had to cut their fields of poppy down. State troopers thought they were growing it for opium. They just loved the flowers and the seeds spread like crazy over time. Now I don’t have any of the original seeds.
